Role Overview

You will be responsible for preparing a wide range of cargo for air transport, ensuring every item meets strict military and aviation packaging standards before it leaves the facility. Day to day, you inspect incoming and outgoing freight, choose the appropriate packing method, and build secure pallets and crates that can survive the rigors of air travel. Your work directly supports Navy and Department of Defense logistics, so accuracy and adherence to safety protocols are essential to keeping mission-critical shipments moving on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect cargo before packaging to identify damage, verify item condition, and determine the correct packaging approach for each shipment.
• Select and apply packing materials, including cushioning, moisture barriers, and protective wraps, based on the fragility, weight, and dimensions of the cargo.
• Construct wooden crates, assemble pallets, and secure loads using banding, strapping, and other restraint methods that meet military and aviation transport requirements.
• Verify that all packages are labeled correctly with handling instructions, destination information, and any required hazard warnings.
• Complete cargo documentation, double-checking weights, dimensions, and packaging accuracy before handing off to air cargo or logistics teams.
• Follow hazardous material handling procedures when applicable, ensuring dangerous goods are packaged, marked, and documented in line with regulations.
• Monitor and maintain packaging supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or malfunctions to keep operations running without delays.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards, conducting regular checks to prevent hazards in a busy warehouse environment.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in cargo packaging, freight preparation, logistics, or warehouse operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of packaging methods, material handling tools, and shipment preparation procedures.
• Physical capability to lift and carry heavy items, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks in a demanding environment.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow written and verbal packaging and safety instructions precisely.
• English proficiency sufficient to read technical documents, communicate with team members, and comply with installation emergency procedures.
• Valid passport with at least one year of validity remaining at the time of hire.
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas as required by the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the full duration of the deployment.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain facility credentials and installation access authorization.
