Role Overview
This position puts you in charge of the entire workplace technology landscape for a rapidly scaling fintech operating across several countries. You will direct teams responsible for everything employees touch daily—connectivity, devices, identity, collaboration tools, and the physical spaces that house them—while making sure every investment balances cost, security, and real-world usability. Your work directly enables thousands of staff across offices, warehouses, retail locations, and contact centres to serve customers reliably, even in markets where network quality is inconsistent.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the multi-year roadmap and budget for workplace IT, including both operating and capital expenses across hardware, software, connectivity, and telephony.
- Lead and develop a distributed team of IT professionals spanning multiple countries, setting standards for performance, responsiveness, and service quality.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of end-user devices—laptops, desktops, and mobiles—for a workforce of over 2,500 people, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and secure retirement.
- Manage network infrastructure across all physical sites, from office LANs and Wi-Fi to warehouse and retail connectivity, as well as contact-centre telephony systems supporting roughly ten call-centre locations.
- Direct on-premises operations, including server rooms, power, cooling, physical access controls, and CCTV, ensuring uptime and a safe environment.
- Define and run identity and access management processes—directory services, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and joiner/mover/leaver workflows—with periodic recertification for both internal and external applications.
- Select and manage the core productivity and collaboration software stack, handling vendor relationships, licensing, SaaS spend, and meeting-room/AV systems so tools genuinely improve how people work.
- Drive IT-side security hygiene such as patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, and system hardening, while coordinating clear responsibilities with the dedicated security function on shared risks.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven experience leading IT operations at scale across multiple sites or countries, with a track record of managing diverse teams.
- Strong commercial instinct and vendor negotiation ability, particularly with ISPs, telecom carriers, hardware suppliers, and SaaS or managed-service providers.
- Solid grasp of security fundamentals across identity, endpoint, and network layers, and the ability to embed good hygiene into daily operations.
- Hands-on familiarity with network monitoring, performance tuning, and physical infrastructure—including server rooms and related engineering—enough to challenge specialists and make sound technical calls.
- Comfort working in high-growth, emerging-market contexts where connectivity and infrastructure can be unpredictable.
- A user-first attitude, with experience gathering employee feedback and translating it into tangible improvements in IT service delivery.
- Either prior leadership over a workplace IT function or strong individual-contributor/manager experience in a related domain with clear readiness to step up.
- Relevant degrees or certifications (for example ITIL, CISSP, cloud, or networking credentials) are useful but not essential—practical skill and judgment matter more.
