Role Overview
This role leads the bank’s diaspora banking strategy, focusing on expanding the customer base and deepening revenue from global communities. Day‑to‑day work involves identifying new market segments, forging partnerships, and designing digital financial products that meet the unique needs of diaspora clients. Success in this position directly strengthens the bank’s position as a trusted partner for customers living abroad while driving deposit growth and long‑term profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape and execute the overall diaspora banking roadmap, setting clear targets for business growth and profitability.
- Scout and develop new geographic markets, strategic alliances, and commercial opportunities within the global diaspora segment.
- Create and launch innovative, digitally enabled products and services tailored to the financial lifestyles of diaspora customers.
- Leverage digital channels and partner networks to build a scalable, convenient, and competitive product suite.
- Drive measurable increases in deposits, liabilities, and new customer acquisition across the diaspora portfolio.
- Strengthen customer loyalty through personalised outreach, superior service, and value propositions that resonate with diaspora communities.
- Sharpen the bank’s market reputation as the preferred financial partner for diaspora populations.
- Lead, coach, and manage the team, fostering a high‑performance culture built on accountability, innovation, and customer focus.
- Monitor global market trends, competitor moves, and customer insights to continuously refine strategy and offerings.
- Ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures, anti‑money laundering (AML) rules, credit policies, combating the financing of terrorism (CFT) protocols, and know‑your‑customer (KYC) requirements to minimise fraud, losses, and regulatory risk.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- A professional qualification in project management or a business discipline is a plus.
- A Master’s degree in Business is advantageous.
- Minimum 6 years of total professional experience, including at least:
- 6 years in sales
- 6 years in customer service
- 6 years in credit
- 6 years in relationship management
- 5 years in banking operations
- Proven ability to develop and execute growth strategies for niche customer segments.
- Strong digital product design and partnership management skills.
- Deep understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks relevant to banking.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and performance management experience.
