Role Overview
You will take ownership of the Infrastructure and Energy vertical within our corporate banking division, translating the bank's broader commercial objectives into a focused sector plan that drives measurable growth. Day to day, you will balance high-level strategy with hands-on deal execution, guiding your team through complex credit transactions while personally nurturing relationships with key institutional clients. The work directly influences the bank's profitability in a capital-intensive sector, so your ability to align business development, risk management, and portfolio performance is central to long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead the sector-specific growth strategy, ensuring it aligns with the bank's overall corporate banking direction and annual revenue, fee, and profit targets.
- Direct the execution of client transactions from origination through structuring and approval, making sure each deal advances the client's strategic plan and the bank's return objectives.
- Drive cross-selling and ecosystem banking by identifying opportunities for existing and new products across the client base, creating deeper banking relationships.
- Develop detailed marketing and client coverage plans, including pricing strategies, risk grading, and return-on-equity considerations, while monitoring overall account profitability.
- Continuously review the portfolio to flag high-risk clients and take proactive steps to mitigate exposure while keeping non-performing loans within agreed thresholds.
- Serve as the senior relationship owner for major infrastructure and energy clients, maintaining trusted executive-level contacts and ensuring consistent, seamless service delivery.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of credit proposals, ensuring they meet internal policy standards and regulatory requirements before approval.
- Lead, coach, and develop the relationship management team — from hiring and performance reviews to regular one-on-one feedback and professional development planning.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A university degree from a recognised institution; a master's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field is viewed favourably.
- At least eight years' experience within banking or financial services, with a minimum of six years in senior management roles focused on corporate banking, specifically infrastructure and energy clients.
- A proven record of achieving ambitious business growth and profitability targets in a financial services environment, including experience with large ticket lending and project finance.
- Practical knowledge of banking operations, market dynamics, and the unique challenges facing infrastructure and energy sectors, including regulatory and governance frameworks.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate a team across different functions and cultural contexts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building trust with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain portfolio quality, manage risk exposure, and make sound credit judgments under pressure.
