Job Description

Role Overview

This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to support the human resources function for a regional organisation focused on child and community welfare. You will work closely with HR specialists and department leads to manage statutory contributions, employee life-cycle processes, staff benefits administration, recruitment logistics, and employee records. Your work ensures that HR operations run smoothly and that staff remain supported and compliant throughout their employment journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the timely remittance of statutory contributions, including NHIF, NSSF, NITA, and HELB, and maintain organised files with proof of payment and related correspondence.
  • Partner with HR and department heads to design orientation schedules for new hires, monitor onboarding progress, and oversee the clearance process for exiting employees.
  • Support the administration of staff benefit schemes by enrolling and removing members, liaising with underwriters or brokers on reimbursements, and keeping membership records current.
  • Assist the recruitment lead with posting open positions, preparing interview plans, scheduling interviews, and managing all recruitment documentation, including background and reference checks.
  • Maintain both physical and digital personnel files, ensuring completeness and compliance with audit standards and collecting signed policy documents from all staff.
  • Process staff travel requests and financial institution correspondence, confirming that all approvals and memoranda of understanding are honoured before action is taken.
  • Keep statutory documents, employee records, and correspondence logs updated and accurately filed for easy retrieval and regulatory review.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognised university, obtained within the last two years.
  • Full registration or active membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications and general computer proficiency.
  • Clear, confident communication and interpersonal abilities, with keen attention to detail and organisational discipline.
  • A demonstrated eagerness to learn, contribute, and grow in an HR environment.
  • Alignment with the organisation's Christian ethos and a genuine commitment to serving vulnerable people, especially children.
  • Adaptability to work in multicultural and varied regional contexts, with sensitivity to differing cultural and operational realities.
  • Willingness to actively uphold safeguarding principles and protect the welfare of children and adults we serve.

This is an ideal launchpad for a recent graduate seeking practical HR experience within a mission-driven, regional organisation. You will gain exposure to statutory compliance, benefits administration, recruitment processes, and record management, all while working in a diverse and culturally rich environment that values compassion, integrity, and professional growth.
