Role Overview
This position owns recruitment from first sourcing conversation to signed offer for a global foundation's regional offices, filling programmatic, technical, operational and leadership vacancies that range from individual contributors through to senior appointments. Day to day, that means mapping talent markets, cultivating candidate pipelines, guiding hiring managers through assessment and selection, and keeping a busy slate of concurrent searches moving without letting quality slip. The work matters because the foundation's ability to deliver on its mission rests on bringing in skilled, diverse people from around the world — and on giving every candidate an experience that reflects the organisation's values.
Key Responsibilities
- Run full-cycle searches across technical, operational and executive levels, covering sourcing strategy, candidate identification and outreach, assessment, interview coordination, selection, offer negotiation and onboarding hand-off.
- Design and execute sourcing and research approaches that surface hard-to-find specialists, including targeted talent mapping, competitor and organisational research, and proactive pipelining for roles that are difficult to fill through inbound applications alone.
- Act as a consultative talent advisor to hiring managers, interpreting market intelligence, benchmarking talent and challenging assumptions so that hiring decisions are grounded in evidence rather than habit.
- Partner with HR Business Partners and hiring managers to anticipate near-term vacancies and longer-range capability gaps, translating those conversations into proactive pipeline plans.
- Work alongside colleagues across the People function — HR Business Partners, associates, compensation, global mobility, and regional and US-based team members — to move candidates smoothly through internal processes and approvals.
- Operate recruiting and market intelligence platforms such as LinkedIn Recruiter, Workday and TalentNeuron to map talent markets, identify prospects and build varied candidate slates.
- Track labour trends, competitive intelligence and recruiting metrics across the foundation's regional offices, using that data to shape search strategies and forecast future talent needs.
- Contribute to the global recruiting team's continuous improvement by sharing best practice, proposing process changes and introducing emerging tools and technologies, including AI-enabled recruiting applications.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- A minimum of eight years of progressive talent acquisition experience gained in the private sector, consulting or nonprofit organisations, including a track record of handling complex regional and global recruitment across a wide range of functions and seniority levels in high-volume, fast-moving settings.
- Demonstrated strength in executive search, talent mapping and proactive sourcing, with evidence of having identified, engaged and attracted diverse technical, operational and programmatic talent across markets on the African continent and beyond.
- Proven capacity to juggle several end-to-end searches at once, balancing competing priorities, hitting deadlines and performance targets while sustaining an excellent experience for candidates and hiring managers alike.
- Results orientation and a clear bias for action, with a history of building high-quality, diverse talent pipelines that respond to shifting business needs.
- Experience designing, rolling out and refining talent acquisition programmes, processes and technologies, including the practical application of AI and other emerging recruitment tools.
- Strong consultative and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to influence hiring decisions and build trusted relationships inside a complex, global, matrixed organisation.
- Ability to absorb internal policies, governance requirements and recruitment processes quickly and apply them accurately, while spotting opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness and the overall hiring experience.
- Analytical capability in using talent market intelligence, recruiting metrics and workforce data to inform hiring strategy, forecast demand and drive improvement.
- Commercial acumen, including experience structuring competitive offers and leading complex compensation and offer negotiations.
- Confidence and credibility with senior leaders, including the ability to provide strategic talent advice and market insight that supports informed hiring decisions.
- Exceptional judgment and discretion in handling confidential information, navigating ambiguity and prioritising multiple complex assignments with professionalism, diplomacy and close attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the self-direction to work independently while contributing to a highly collaborative global team.
- Comfort operating across a wide range of cultural, geographic and operational contexts, demonstrating culturally sensitive behaviour with diverse groups of people, a genuine commitment to development issues and high standards of personal integrity.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
- This position is based in Nairobi and reports to the Senior Global Recruiting Manager, who is based in India.
