General Manager

Role Overview

The General Manager leads the company’s business units, connecting decisions about sourcing, pricing, sales, delivery, and quality with the organisation’s growth and financial goals. This role sets direction for teams, strengthens relationships across the business ecosystem, and ensures that operations are efficient, customer-focused, safe, and compliant with relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day work across business units, including product sourcing and ordering, pricing, sales, dispatch, and delivery.
• Develop and put into action growth plans for each business unit, tracking their contribution to revenue and profitability.
• Agree on measurable performance goals with teams and supervisors, including sales targets, and monitor progress against them.
• Review team performance regularly, identify gaps, and set practical improvement objectives.
• Build productive working relationships with customers, suppliers, investors, financial institutions, development partners, and government agencies.
• Guide the development and delivery of digital marketplace products and related services.
• Lead budgeting, financial planning, and the allocation of resources to support business priorities.
• Oversee quality, safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with applicable industry requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Finance, Economics, Technology, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of progressive leadership experience, including three or more years in a senior executive position.
• Background in agribusiness, agri-tech, digital platforms, financial services, supply chain, or a closely related sector.
• Evidence of delivering business growth, executing strategy, securing fundraising, and managing stakeholder relationships.
• An MBA or equivalent master’s degree is an advantage.
• Professional qualifications in leadership, finance, or governance are desirable.
