General Accountant

Role Overview

This General Accountant role focuses on the financial performance of individual projects, from tracking costs and revenue to explaining differences between budgets and actual results. By keeping project records accurate and highlighting margin risks early, you will help the team manage project finances and make informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Calculate job costs and assess profitability across projects.
• Compare project spending with budgets and forecasts, investigate variances, and flag emerging cost overruns.
• Track labour hours, staff costs, subcontractor charges, and other direct project expenses.
• Monitor project revenue, billing milestones, work in progress, and amounts earned but not yet invoiced.
• Maintain project accounting records in QuickBooks Online.
• Build project cost reports, budget-to-actual analyses, and management dashboards in Microsoft Excel.
• Complete general accounting tasks, account reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
• Prepare schedules and supporting information related to UAE VAT.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Three to five years of relevant accounting experience.
• Practical knowledge of job costing, project cost control, and profitability analysis.
• Experience in engineering, architectural, supervision, or project management consultancy is preferred.
• Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks Online and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Working knowledge of UAE VAT, financial reporting, and month-end procedures.
• CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or an equivalent professional qualification is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
