Role Overview
This role centres on the daily control and recording of fuel used by company vehicles and equipment, ensuring every litre dispensed is authorised, logged, and accounted for. You will monitor fuel consumption patterns, catch discrepancies early, and maintain accurate stock records to prevent shortages or loss. The position is critical to keeping fleet operations running smoothly and safeguarding company assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense fuel only after confirming vehicle identification, driver identity, odometer readings, and authorisation against company procedure.
- Log every transaction in a manual register or digital fuel management system with full detail.
- Reconcile daily fuel issued against physical stock levels and investigate any variance.
- Perform regular dip measurements of fuel storage tanks and update stock records accordingly.
- Track fuel consumption trends and flag unusual usage that may indicate theft, leakage, or equipment faults.
- Prepare periodic consumption and stock reports for fleet and finance teams.
- Supervise incoming fuel deliveries, verify quantities received, and match them against supplier documents.
- Maintain the fuel dispensing area in a clean, safe condition and follow all environmental and safety regulations for fuel handling.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Stores Management, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Formal training in inventory or fuel management is an advantage.
- At least two years of hands-on experience in fuel management, stores or inventory control, or fleet operations.
- Basic computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Excel and inventory management software.
- Sound numerical ability and meticulous record-keeping habits.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot anomalies in data.
- Good communication skills to liaise with drivers, suppliers, and internal teams.
