Role Overview
This role is built for a driven sales professional who enjoys talking to people, solving financial problems, and closing deals. Day to day, you’ll be meeting prospective clients across Nairobi, understanding their personal or business risks, and recommending insurance products that genuinely protect what matters to them. Your work directly powers the company’s revenue growth, so your energy, persistence, and ability to build trust are just as important as your product knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and contact potential clients through a mix of cold outreach, networking events, social media, and referrals from existing customers.
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and consistently work toward weekly and monthly revenue targets set by the sales leadership team.
- Conduct one-on-one financial reviews with individuals, families, and business owners to uncover gaps in their current coverage.
- Present clear insurance recommendations for life, health, property, or general coverage, explaining benefits, exclusions, and long-term value in plain language.
- Prepare accurate premium quotations and formal proposals, then follow up methodically to close sales while complying with all regulatory requirements.
- Support clients after the sale by processing policy changes, answering questions, and guiding them through claims documentation to ensure fast resolutions.
- Track policy renewals and proactively contact clients to refresh or upgrade their plans, reducing the risk of lapsed coverage.
- Keep detailed records of client interactions, sales activities, and submitted paperwork, making sure all KYC and application documents are delivered on time.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Insurance, Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related commercial field.
- At least one year of experience in insurance sales, financial advising, banking, or a high-volume direct sales environment is preferred, but strong recent graduates with persuasive communication skills will also be considered.
- Working knowledge of insurance risk principles, financial planning concepts, and common investment or protection products.
- Must be based in Nairobi and comfortable with frequent in-person client visits across different parts of the city.
- Proven ability to negotiate, handle objections, and close deals without relying on a warm lead desk.
- High emotional intelligence and a natural ability to listen, build rapport, and maintain long-term professional relationships.
- Self-disciplined, organised, and able to manage your own schedule effectively in a commission-based role.
