Job Description
Role Overview
This role is responsible for transforming the finance function into a proactive business partner that directly influences decisions across internal teams, tenants, property asset managers, and external clients. Day to day, you will oversee the full financial management of a client portfolio, design reporting systems tailored to property owners’ needs, and drive strategic planning that aligns financial objectives with broader business goals. The position is critical because it ensures finance is not merely a back-office function but a trusted advisor that shapes investment, leasing, and operational outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with business units, tenants, property asset management teams, and external clients to embed finance into decision-making processes.
- Take full ownership of the financial function for the assigned client portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and performance analysis.
- Develop and refine reporting systems and tools that meet the unique information needs of property owners, ensuring timely, accurate, and actionable insights.
- Interpret and implement strategic directives from senior management by allocating material and manpower resources to achieve specific objectives within the portfolio.
- Manage capital expenditure processes, including evaluation, approval tracking, and post-investment reviews to ensure alignment with financial policies.
- Oversee contract management for leases and supplier agreements, ensuring compliance with legal and financial terms while minimising risk.
- Prepare and present advanced financial reports—including income statements, balance sheets, budgets, and variance analysis—for internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of analytical thinking, customer relationship building, and continuous improvement.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Completed B.Com Accounting degree or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 7.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant finance experience, ideally within property, asset management, or a client-facing portfolio environment.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite—especially Excel (advanced financial modelling and calculations), Outlook, and Word.
- Strong administrative and time management skills with the ability to handle high volumes of work driven by the number of tenants, buildings, clients, and reporting complexity.
- Detailed knowledge of financial policies, procedures, and processes, including GAAP, taxation, capital expenditure, and contract management (leases and suppliers).
- Competence in advanced financial reporting, business planning, and interpreting financial statements, income statements, balance sheets, and budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to think analytically, solve problems, make decisions, and lead change while building customer relationships.
- Competencies in team leadership, strategic planning, and challenging the status quo to drive business and financial acumen.
