Job Description
Role Overview
This accounting role sits at the heart of the finance team, handling the daily flow of money in and out of the business. You will process transactions, keep the ledgers accurate, and make sure every invoice and payment is properly documented and approved. Your work directly supports clean month-end reporting, smooth audits, and stronger internal controls across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and record all day-to-day financial activity, including invoices, payments, receipts, and expenses.
- Review supplier invoices, local purchase orders, and supporting documents to confirm accuracy, completeness, and approved rates before payment.
- Maintain the accounting system with up-to-date and properly coded entries for all transactions.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable ledgers, tracking outstanding balances and following up on overdue items.
- Perform regular reconciliations for bank accounts, supplier statements, and customer accounts, resolving any mismatches promptly.
- Investigate discrepancies, missing documentation, and errors, then take the necessary steps to correct them.
- Assist with month-end closing tasks, including financial schedules, management accounts, and supporting reports.
- Keep financial records and source documents organised and easily retrievable for audit and statutory compliance purposes.
- Support process improvement initiatives within the finance function and take on additional accounting tasks as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, plus CPA Section 2 or equivalent; KATC/ATD finalists will be considered an added advantage.
- At least two years of relevant experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance.
- Hands-on proficiency with Sage Accounting Software for the Sage-based role, or Xero Accounting Software for the Xero-based role.
- Solid understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, general accounting procedures, audits, and month-end reporting.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort with accounting applications, with careful attention to detail and the ability to spot and resolve discrepancies.
- Highly organised, able to work independently under pressure, meet deadlines, juggle multiple tasks, and maintain accurate records according to established policies and internal controls.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, integrity, confidentiality, and interpersonal skills when interacting with colleagues and external stakeholders.
