Role Overview
This consultancy sits within the UN Women Headquarters team responsible for the Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) Programme, providing financial stewardship across both the global component and the ESARO regional component. Day to day, you will verify transactions, monitor budget health, prepare financial reports, and keep the programme running in full compliance with UN Women’s regulations. Your work ensures that funds are used properly, audit recommendations are actioned, and programme teams have the financial and administrative support they need to deliver on the ground.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate financial transactions, documentation, and activities, correcting errors and flagging anomalies for supervisor review.
- Monitor the programme budget across global and ESARO components, including allotments, expenditures, revisions, and unutilized funds, ensuring timely and appropriate use of resources.
- Prepare financial status reports, cost analyses, and expenditure summaries, and consolidate reporting across all programme components.
- Maintain internal expenditure controls, process VAT reimbursements, manage petty cash, and resolve invoice or budget check exceptions.
- Input and monitor financial data in the QUANTUM ERP system, creating requisitions, registering goods receipts, and preparing non-PO invoices for consultants and services.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for meetings, workshops, missions, and travel arrangements for the Programme Team.
- Guide and train regional programme assistants and civil society partners on financial reporting, FACE forms, and partner agreement requirements.
- Support audits by preparing documentation, tracking corrective actions, and assisting with resource mobilization and cost-recovery billing.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Completion of secondary education is required; a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is an asset, as is a specialized national or international certification in accounting and finance.
- At least six years of progressively responsible experience in finance, accounting, or budget management, ideally within an international development or UN context.
- Hands-on experience with a modern web-based ERP system is required, preferably Oracle Cloud; familiarity with UN Women’s QUANTUM system is a strong advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office, spreadsheets, and database packages, with the ability to support business process improvements and system implementations.
- Experience supporting EU-funded projects and working on programmes related to ending violence against women or gender equality is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is desirable.
- Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and gender sensitivity, with strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is a home-based consultancy, giving you flexibility in how and where you work while contributing to a globally significant programme. You will join a mission-driven team within UN Women, applying your financial expertise to help prevent and end violence against women across regions. It is an opportunity to work alongside dedicated professionals while strengthening your skills in international financial management, ERP systems, and programme support.
