Role Overview
This field-based position centres on installing, pulling, and servicing electrical submersible pump (ESP) systems and related hardware at customer wells, both offshore and onshore. You will often work autonomously, representing the company on site while keeping artificial lift equipment running reliably. Your work directly affects well productivity and the customer's operational uptime, making technical accuracy and clear communication essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, inspect, and prepare ESP submersible equipment for installation; oversee tubing runs and cable banding, and check electrical integrity at intervals throughout the job.
- Support monitoring, troubleshooting, and testing of downhole ESP equipment to improve well output and extend ESP run life.
- Calculate required surface voltage, determine transformer connections and wire size, set up surface equipment, and confirm safety devices are installed and functional.
- Inspect and repair various ESP submersible components, diagnose problems, carry out field repairs, and recommend appropriate actions to the customer.
- Perform specialised electrical tasks, including basic VSD repairs, downhole pressure system troubleshooting, rewiring switchboards from one controller type to another, and installing voltage analysing equipment.
- Carry out all levels of maintenance, inspection, testing, and fault-finding on ESP and other artificial lift equipment, including commissioning.
- Work independently when required, managing on-site tasks and customer interactions with minimal supervision.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A two-year technical diploma.
- At least two years of experience working with ESP submersible equipment.
- Background in maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault-finding of artificial lift equipment and systems.
- Knowledge of variable speed drives (VSDs) and automated systems.
- A strong customer service mindset, with experience leading customers through difficult technical decisions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to convey technical concepts clearly to internal and external customers.
