Role Overview
This position sits inside Eni Natural Energies Kenya EPZ Ltd. (ENEK) and serves as the everyday bridge between the company's work around Kwale and the people and institutions that shape it — government ministries, national and county offices, partner organisations, NGOs and host communities. Reporting to the External Relations Manager and supporting the Bonje Agrihub programme, the officer keeps dialogue moving: arranging and documenting meetings, circulating accurate information, maintaining the department's records and turning engagement activity into reports that decision-makers can use. The role matters because projects in this part of Kenya advance or stall on the strength of their relationships and on how reliably commitments, questions and follow-ups are tracked.
Key Responsibilities
- Organise and service meetings, briefings and bilateral sessions with county and national government offices, partner organisations, NGOs and community representatives — preparing background material, confirming attendees, and keeping a clear record of who was consulted, when, and what was agreed.
- Act as the primary point of contact for community liaison and partner relations tied to ENEK's projects, receiving questions, concerns and requests and routing them to the right internal owner until they are properly addressed.
- Gather and structure data on stakeholder communications and engagement activity, maintain the External Relations Department's databases, and track planned activities against actual outcomes so that reporting cycles stay complete and current.
- Draft reports, summaries and presentations for internal and external audiences, verifying names, figures and supporting detail before documents are circulated.
- Coordinate training sessions and community-facing events end to end, covering venue and logistics arrangements, invitation lists, attendance records and follow-up correspondence.
- Monitor Kenyan current affairs and announcements from public authorities, flagging policy, regulatory or local developments that could affect ENEK's operations, timeline or standing in the community.
- Support the rollout of communication strategies that help external audiences understand and back ENEK's activities, and contribute to the timely implementation of projects alongside colleagues working directly in local communities.
- Keep engagement records in line with company policy, industry standards and applicable local regulation, helping the department demonstrate compliance when it is reviewed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Communications, Development Studies or a comparable discipline.
- Practical experience in communications, external relations, community development, stakeholder engagement or administrative coordination, ideally gained in a setting that involved regular contact with government bodies or communities.
- A demonstrated track record of producing reports and delivering presentations to colleagues, partners or officials.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to run several workstreams at once without losing accuracy in the detail.
- Confident interpersonal manner and the cultural awareness needed to work credibly with community members, civil servants, NGO staff and internal colleagues from varied backgrounds.
- Proven ability to contribute within multidisciplinary teams and to adjust when priorities or circumstances change at short notice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with presentation skills suited to both formal briefings and informal community settings.
- Competence with Microsoft 365 tools, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
