Role Overview
You will join the maintenance team as the person accountable for keeping production lines moving without interruption. Your day-to-day work centres on diagnosing faults, carrying out planned maintenance routines, and restoring equipment to full working order whenever breakdowns occur, with a focus on both electrical control systems and mechanical drive components. Your efforts directly protect manufacturing output, reduce unplanned downtime, and support the plant’s overall efficiency targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production machinery, including lubrication, alignment checks, belt and chain tensioning, and inspection of electrical connections.
- Respond promptly to breakdown calls, diagnose root causes across electrical and mechanical systems, and implement effective corrective repairs to minimise production losses.
- Install, commission, and modify industrial equipment such as conveyors, filling machines, packaging lines, motors, pumps, and automated handling systems.
- Monitor and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, using ladder logic or related software to identify sensor, actuator, and control logic faults.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and spare parts records to support continuous improvement and root cause analysis initiatives.
- Collaborate with production operators and shift leaders to identify recurring equipment issues and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Adhere strictly to plant safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical safety standards while carrying out all maintenance activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in Electromechanical Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Electronics, or another closely related technical discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, ideally in the FMCG sector.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and repair automated production equipment and industrial machinery.
- Proven experience performing both preventive maintenance and reactive breakdown maintenance under time pressure.
- Working knowledge of PLC-controlled systems, including fault-finding on input and output modules and interpreting diagnostic indicators.
- Practical understanding of industrial automation components such as variable speed drives, sensors, relays, contactors, and pneumatic control systems.
- Strong diagnostic capability across both electrical circuits and mechanical assemblies, including bearings, gearboxes, chains, and drives.
