Job Description

Role Overview

You will be responsible for keeping high-volume production lines running by combining electrical, mechanical, and automation expertise. Day to day, you will respond to equipment faults, carry out scheduled maintenance, and work alongside production teams to minimise downtime and maintain output quality. Your ability to diagnose issues across control systems, motors, and mechanical components will directly affect plant efficiency and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, including conveyors, filling lines, packaging equipment, and ancillary systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults using schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic tools, resolving issues quickly to reduce line stoppages.
  • Inspect and maintain PLC-based control panels, field sensors, actuators, motor starters, and variable frequency drives, ensuring correct operation and settings.
  • Carry out mechanical repairs such as belt replacements, bearing changes, gearbox servicing, and alignment checks on rotating equipment.
  • Collaborate with production operators to understand recurring equipment problems and implement effective, long-term fixes.
  • Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and fault histories, helping improve maintenance plans and spare parts management.
  • Support machine changeovers and line setups, ensuring equipment is properly adjusted for different product runs.
  • Follow safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and overall efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electromechanical Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Electronics.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment; prior FMCG experience is a strong advantage.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs from platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Delta, including basic programming, fault-finding, and logic troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with motor controllers, proximity switches, photoelectric sensors, limit switches, and industrial communication interfaces.
  • Proven ability to perform troubleshooting under time pressure, with a systematic approach to diagnosing electrical and mechanical failures.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical blueprints.
  • Strong awareness of safety standards in industrial environments and a commitment to following lockout/tagout and maintenance protocols.
