Role Overview
This Equipment Electrician position focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems across varied work sites, including engine rooms, confined spaces, and onshore areas. Daily tasks involve ensuring the reliable operation of critical equipment such as generators, transformers, shore-power connections, and navigation lights. This role is essential to keeping the company’s marine and industrial electrical infrastructure safe and fully functional.
Key Responsibilities
- Install new electrical equipment and wiring according to technical specifications and safety standards.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on generators, transformers, and switchgear.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in shore-power systems, navigation lighting, and other shipboard or onshore electrical installations.
- Work safely in confined spaces like engine rooms and bilges, following strict confined-space entry protocols.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and manufacturer manuals to guide repairs and installations.
- Test electrical circuits and components using multimeters, insulation testers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Coordinate with other technicians and engineers to complete complex repairs or planned maintenance tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used and test results.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Solid hands-on experience in electrical equipment installation, maintenance, and fault-finding.
- Strong knowledge of electrical components (breakers, contactors, relays, cables) and general electrical works.
- Familiarity with marine and industrial equipment: generators, transformers, shore-power units, and navigation lights.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, engine rooms, and outdoor onshore environments.
- Physically fit and committed to workplace safety practices.
- Relevant electrical certifications (e.g., trade diploma, licensed electrician) are a distinct advantage.
- Able to work both independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team member.
- Immediate availability to join is strongly preferred.
