Job Description

Role Overview

This position centres on keeping a high-volume industrial terminal running by maintaining the electrical systems behind blending, bagging, and material movement. Each day involves responding to fault calls, performing scheduled maintenance, and working closely with mechanical colleagues to prevent and resolve breakdowns that would otherwise halt production. The work directly supports operational continuity, safety, and reliability in a fast-paced warehouse and processing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults across blending machines, bagging lines, conveyors, palletizers, weighbridges, and the motor control panels that power them.
  • Execute preventive maintenance routines on electrical equipment, including inspection, cleaning, component tightening, and replacement of worn parts to reduce unplanned stoppages.
  • Use electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals to pinpoint fault causes and carry out safe, accurate repairs.
  • Maintain and calibrate control systems, sensors, low-voltage industrial motors, and variable-speed drives linked to material-handling machinery.
  • Document all maintenance and incident activity—fault symptoms, replaced parts, and repair times—and report findings to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Apply Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, electrical safety rules, and the company’s Golden Rules whenever working on powered or de-energised systems.
  • Work with mechanical technicians on combined electro-mechanical failures, jointly identifying root causes and implementing fixes to shorten downtime.
  • Assist with the installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical equipment, panels, or upgrades, verifying compliance with applicable electrical codes.
  • Immediately report electrical hazards, near-misses, or non-compliant installations to the HESQ Officer and follow through on corrective actions.
  • Keep the electrical workshop and tool store organised, with all spares, testing instruments, and equipment properly maintained and accounted for.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation from an accredited institution.
  • A recognised electrical trade certificate or licence, also from an accredited body.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience maintaining electrical systems in an industrial, warehouse, or bagging/blending machinery setting.
  • Practical knowledge of low-voltage industrial control circuits, motors, and conveyor or hopper electrical systems.
  • Proven ability to diagnose faults quickly and work safely under time pressure.
  • Basic occupational health and safety training, or the willingness to complete the client’s HESQ induction programme.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and provide coverage during peak seasons.
