Job Title: Driver II (Grade AD 3)
Requirements for Appointment
For direct appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade qualification from a recognized institution;
- A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for class required to drive;
- Served in the grade of Driver II Grade AD 3 or in a comparable position for a period of three (3) years;
- Passed the Occupational Trade Test Grade II;
- Public Service Vehicle (PSV) certificate;
- Defensive Driving Certificate from Automobile Association (AA) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- A Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution;
- A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service;
- Attended a First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution; and
- Demonstrated merit and ability in driving and maintenance of vehicle.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Driving a motor vehicle as authorized;
- Carrying out minor mechanical repairs;
- Security of the vehicle on and off the road;
- Safety of passengers and/or goods therein;
- Maintaining cleanliness of the assigned vehicles and carrying out routine checks on cooling, oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure;
- Carrying out minor repairs including oiling and greasing;
- Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
- Maintenance of work tickets for vehicle assigned;
- Ensuring the vehicle has the necessary documentation; and
- Ensuring the vehicle has relevant repair tools and is serviced on time.
