Job Description

Role Overview

Drilling operators sit at the center of well construction, keeping pipe moving, tools serviceable, and the rig floor running safely while a well is drilled. Working alongside the driller and floorhands on Baker Hughes drilling operations, you handle tubulars and mechanical equipment that turn a drilling program into a completed wellbore. Every connection made up correctly and every pre-job inspection has a direct effect on whether the crew stays safe and the hole reaches target depth on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run drilling-floor and tubular-handling equipment — elevators, slips, spiders, manual tongs, and hydraulic or pneumatic power tools — through pipe-handling and well construction sequences.
  • Support running and pulling casing, drill pipe, and tubing: aligning and stabbing joints, latching handling tools, and verifying that each connection is made up with integrity.
  • Inspect tools and equipment before, during, and after drilling activities, flagging wear, damage, or anything that could fail or create a hazard downhole or on the floor.
  • Maintain constant communication with the driller, other floor operators, and supervisors so tubulars, tools, and equipment move only when it is safe to move them.
  • Apply client and company drilling safety requirements on every task, take part in rig safety meetings, and stay actively alert to changing hazards on the rig floor.
  • Contribute to wider rig-floor work — rig-up and rig-down, first-line equipment troubleshooting, housekeeping, and the operational documentation that records what was done.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • General knowledge of the oil and gas industry, ideally gained through direct exposure to drilling or tubular-handling operations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to set up, operate, and interpret the behavior of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic rig tools safely.
  • Two-year technical degree preferred, or equivalent technical training combined with hands-on field experience.
  • Previous industry experience and product-line exposure (drilling, tubular running services, or rig operations), with a demonstrated ability to follow procedures and maintain safety compliance.
  • Clear communication and the temperament to work productively with drilling crews, supervisors, and subcontracted personnel when the pace is high.
  • Availability for variable schedules — offshore rotations, shift-based work, or on-call assignments — and the flexibility to adapt when operational demands change.

What We Offer / Why Join

You will be working at the center of live drilling operations, gaining practical exposure to the tools and techniques used to run tubulars and build wellbores. The role rewards mechanical skill and safety discipline, and it places you alongside experienced drillers and floorhands — one of the fastest environments in which to learn how rig operations really work.
