Role Overview
We are building a bench of culinary professionals to support Pili Restaurant as our kitchen operations expand. In this hands-on role, you will move between prep and line stations, ensuring ingredients are ready, plates are plated consistently, and every service runs smoothly. Your work directly shapes the dining experience for every guest, so reliability and a genuine passion for food are just as important as your technical skill.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients daily—washing, chopping, portioning, and storing items according to recipe specs and food safety standards.
- Cook menu items to order on the line, maintaining proper timing, temperature, and presentation across all stations.
- Set up your station before service and break it down after service, including cleaning equipment and organising mis en place.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or spoilage to the kitchen leadership so orders stay accurate.
- Follow established recipes and plating guides while also adapting to special requests or dietary modifications from guests.
- Collaborate with fellow cooks and servers to keep ticket times fast and resolve kitchen issues as they arise.
- Maintain a spotless, organised workspace throughout the shift, complying with health and hygiene regulations at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least one to two years of professional kitchen experience, preferably in a from-scratch or full-service restaurant environment.
- Solid working knowledge of fundamental cooking techniques, knife skills, and food safety principles.
- Current food handler or ServSafe certification, or ability to obtain one before starting.
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays—the busiest times for any restaurant.
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and keep pace during peak service without losing attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills and a team-first attitude, with willingness to jump in where help is needed.
- Reliability is non-negotiable: we need people who show up on time, prepared, and ready to work every shift.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is an opportunity to get in early with a restaurant that is actively expanding its kitchen team. As the operation grows, there may be room to take on more responsibility, sharpen your craft, and become a long-term part of a dedicated crew focused on great food and consistent service.
