Role Overview
This is a front-line sales position in retail banking, where you spend your day meeting prospective customers, introducing them to the bank's products and guiding them from first enquiry through to a completed, accurately documented application. You sit between the customer and the bank's internal teams, so how thoroughly you check paperwork and how quickly you pass it on has a direct effect on how soon people actually receive the products they came for. Because you are often the first and most visible point of contact, the professionalism you bring to each conversation shapes how the bank is viewed in the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a working pipeline of prospective customers using referrals, cross-selling opportunities within the existing base, sales activations arranged by the bank and leads issued by the branch or sales team.
- Explain product features to customers accurately and in line with approved product information, applying fair treatment of customers at every interaction.
- Guide customers through the completion of application forms for the specific product they wish to take up, making sure entries are complete and properly signed.
- Review submitted applications and supporting documentation to confirm everything is accurate, consistent and ready for processing.
- Authenticate customer identity by checking original documents — such as national ID or passport — against the photocopies supplied.
- Forward fully completed applications to the relevant Sales Manager or Retail Support Team within 24 hours of the customer signing off.
- Prospect for other bank products that genuinely suit each customer's circumstances and needs.
- Keep customer documents in safe custody while they are in your care, escalate any feedback or complaints to the Sales or Branch Manager, and report field intelligence and regular sales activity to leadership to inform product improvements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A diploma or university degree from a recognised institution, ideally as a recent graduate.
- A minimum mean grade of C- (minus) at K.C.S.E.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for and commitment to quality service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to meet demanding targets within fixed deadlines.
- Prior experience in sales or client relationship management would be an added advantage.
