Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of a fast-moving food manufacturing operation, acting as the bridge between what the business plans to produce and what the factory can actually execute. You will translate the master production schedule into a realistic, day-by-day plan for finished goods, while also ensuring that every raw material, imported bulk ingredient, and packaging component arrives on time to keep production lines running without interruption. By balancing production capacity with material availability, you directly protect the factory's output, efficiency, and cost performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a feasible daily production schedule for finished goods, based on the master production schedule and demonstrated line capacity.
- Sequence production runs intelligently to maximise line utilisation, minimise changeover losses, and align with customer demand priorities.
- Monitor live execution of the production plan, identify deviations or bottlenecks, and work with production teams to resolve exceptions quickly.
- Plan and manage the availability of raw materials, imported bulk ingredients, and packaging materials so that nothing stalls the manufacturing process.
- Raise and track purchase orders, follow up with suppliers, and manage stock cover to stay within agreed inventory targets without risking shortages.
- Support warehouse compliance and operational performance, ensuring material movements and storage practices meet the factory's standards.
- Coordinate closely with production, procurement, suppliers, and fellow planners to align daily actions with broader supply chain objectives.
- Assist the Supply Planner in preparing and running the Weekly Production Review, presenting schedule performance and material risks clearly.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in production, supply chain, logistics, engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least two years of hands-on experience in production planning, materials requirements planning, or an equivalent role within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated factory planning experience in FMCG or a similarly fast-paced goods industry.
- Working knowledge of SAP and/or APO for planning and materials management, plus strong Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and scenario modelling.
- Solid numerical reasoning and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure when demand, supply, or capacity shifts unexpectedly.
- Strong problem-solving capability, with a proactive mindset for spotting risks before they become disruptions.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, comfortable liaising with multiple teams and suppliers to keep everyone aligned.
