Role Overview
As Deputy Lead Transport, you will oversee daily fleet deployment, transporter performance, and transport cost control within a fast-moving supply chain environment. Your coordination ensures safe, compliant, and efficient movement of goods while maintaining strict documentation and financial tracking. This role directly supports the transport lead in optimising resources, managing partner relationships, and driving lean initiatives across the logistics operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and execute daily fleet deployment plans to match operational demand while minimising idle time and route inefficiencies.
- Monitor transporter performance against agreed service levels, addressing deviations and escalating recurring issues.
- Manage end-to-end accounts payable for transport operations, including VIM invoice submission, control discipline, and follow-up on accounts receivable trackers.
- Maintain accurate proof-of-delivery logs and transport documentation to ensure audit readiness and compliance with legal and company standards.
- Prepare regular risk and escalation reports covering safety incidents, compliance gaps, and operational bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with transport partners to strengthen relationships, negotiate service improvements, and resolve on-ground challenges.
- Implement Lean and Kaizen initiatives to reduce waste, improve turnaround times, and enhance overall transport productivity.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of transport or logistics experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity.
- Proven background in FMCG, manufacturing, or distribution environments.
- Strong working knowledge of fleet planning, transporter management, transport cost control, and ERP systems (SAP or TMS).
- Familiarity with transport compliance requirements, including safety and regulatory standards.
- Professional certifications such as CILT, KISM, or Lean Six Sigma are advantageous.
What We Offer / Why Join
This role provides an opportunity to shape transport operations in a dynamic logistics setting, with exposure to lean practices and cross-functional collaboration. You will be part of a team committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence, where your supervisory experience directly impacts efficiency and service quality.
