Role Overview
The role leads Sports Kenya’s human resource management and administration agenda, shaping policies, systems and service delivery across the organisation. It combines strategic HR work — workforce planning, performance, recruitment, discipline, welfare and organisational development — with operational oversight of records, assets, security, transport and office services. This position matters because it ensures the Board’s people and administrative foundations remain compliant, efficient and aligned with its mandate.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide the creation, interpretation, rollout and periodic review of HR and administration policies, standards and guidelines, including terms and conditions of service.
- Oversee recruitment, promotion, disciplinary processes, staff capacity building and deployment decisions, while analysing staffing levels and recommending succession plans.
- Coordinate organisational development and job review exercises, and lead change management initiatives that embed best practice in the HR function.
- Design, review and coordinate welfare and incentive schemes, and run grievance handling mechanisms that support fair and consistent people management.
- Monitor performance management systems, training and development programmes, and evaluate whether learning interventions deliver intended results.
- Supervise administration functions: records management, asset register maintenance, office accommodation, transport, logistics and departmental work plan monitoring.
- Oversee security for premises and staff, including security system design and review, incident investigations with police and other agencies, and acquisition of insurance and licences with the legal unit.
- Prepare quarterly reports on administration and on staff performance target setting and appraisal for the relevant section.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least fifteen (15) years of cumulative relevant work experience, with three (3) years served at management level or in a comparable position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Administration, Business Administration or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- Certificate in a Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognised institution.
- Membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) and in good standing.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
