Role Overview
This position owns the end-to-end data intelligence agenda for the organisation, translating raw information into strategic assets that shape decision-making across every business line. You will lead the design and delivery of analytics products and BI platforms while also building the governance structures that keep data trustworthy, secure, and compliant. Day to day, you balance strategic priorities with hands-on technical leadership: guiding modelling projects, coaching analysts, and partnering with stakeholders to turn complex data challenges into practical, high-impact solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute a multi-year analytics and data product roadmap aligned with organisational goals, ensuring every initiative links back to measurable business outcomes.
- Establish and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and ownership models that support regulatory compliance and enterprise-wide data integrity.
- Lead cross-functional analytics squads to identify, prioritise, and deliver high-value use cases such as credit risk scoring, propensity modelling, and churn prediction.
- Design and build interactive dashboards and self-service analytics platforms that make data exploration intuitive for non-technical users.
- Develop advanced statistical and machine learning models, then operationalise them into production-ready analytical products that support lending, marketing, and customer retention decisions.
- Manage analytics resource allocation, project timelines, and delivery standards across concurrent workstreams, ensuring consistent quality and on-time outcomes.
- Drive data literacy adoption throughout the business through training, documentation, and championing best practices in data interpretation and storytelling.
- Continuously monitor and improve data quality, metadata management, and analytical pipelines to ensure reliable, auditable, and repeatable results.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or another quantitative discipline; a postgraduate qualification in Data Science, Statistics, AI, Machine Learning, Analytics, or a related field is a strong advantage.
- At least five years of hands-on experience in advanced analytics, decision science, business analytics, or data product development, with a proven record of delivering insights that guided real business decisions.
- Two to three years of leadership experience, covering team management, leading analytical workstreams, or coordinating analytics capabilities and resources across an organisation.
- Prior experience in banking, financial services, fintech, telecommunications, or another data-intensive sector is preferred.
- Strong technical proficiency in Python and R, including experience building predictive models and manipulating large datasets.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate data deeply, extract actionable insights, and communicate findings clearly to senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
- Practical understanding of data governance, regulatory considerations, and information classification in a commercial environment.
- Comfort working in collaborative, cross-functional teams, with a pragmatic orientation toward delivering usable solutions and a willingness to adopt hands-on approaches when needed.
