Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of a growing data tribe, converting raw enterprise data into clear, decision-ready intelligence for business teams and executives. Day to day, you will build and refine Power BI solutions, write complex SQL queries, and collaborate closely with Big Data Engineers and Product Owners to ensure the organisation’s digital platforms and business units have continuous, accurate visibility into performance. Your work directly supports the tribe’s Phase 2 expansion by transforming newly processed data assets into interactive dashboards that drive everyday operational and strategic choices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI reports, executive scorecards, and self-service dashboards that meet evolving business needs and visual standards.
- Write advanced DAX measures, calculated columns, and time-intelligence logic to model complex business calculations across multiple data domains.
- Build robust data models using star and snowflake schema patterns, including relationship management, row-level security (RLS), and performance tuning for large datasets.
- Administer Power BI workspaces, manage app publishing, configure scheduled refreshes, and maintain gateway connections for reliable data delivery.
- Extract and analyse data from relational databases, data warehouses, and data lakes using advanced SQL, including complex joins, aggregations, and performance optimisation.
- Cleanse, blend, and reshape data from multiple sources using Power Query (M) and SQL before loading into reporting models, ensuring consistency and usability.
- Validate reporting accuracy by reconciling dashboard outputs against source systems, and support data governance standards around access controls, privacy, and documentation.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into technical specifications, then present insights in clear, non-technical language to leadership and operational teams.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Technology, Business Intelligence, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 3–6 years of experience as a Data Analyst or BI Developer, ideally within banking, fintech, telecom, or digital financial services.
- Advanced working knowledge of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including Power Query (M), DAX, custom visuals, and performance optimisation techniques.
- Strong SQL proficiency for data extraction, joining, aggregation, and tuning, together with a solid grasp of dimensional modelling principles.
- Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end Power BI solutions that achieve high adoption across an enterprise.
- Deep understanding of data visualisation best practices, visual hierarchy, and storytelling with data for varied audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to convert ambiguous business questions into structured analytical workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus familiarity with key business metrics such as active users, conversion rates, customer lifetime value, and transaction velocity.
- PL-300 certification (Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate) is highly desirable and considered a strong advantage.
