Role Overview
This role is focused on executing and continually improving the cybersecurity framework that protects a bank’s core infrastructure, business systems, and customer data. Day to day, the position involves implementing security controls, monitoring for threats, conducting risk assessments, and responding to incidents—all while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements from the central bank. The work directly supports business continuity and safeguards the institution’s reputation in a highly regulated financial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and manage cybersecurity measures that keep the bank’s ICT infrastructure, devices, and systems secure, operational, and available.
- Enforce security standards related to user management—including access controls, authentication protocols, and audit logging of system actions.
- Lead the development and execution of action plans to maintain full compliance with central bank cybersecurity oversight directives.
- Identify, contain, and remediate security incidents such as unauthorised access, malware attacks, or destructive breaches; document and escalate as needed.
- Carry out regular risk assessments and penetration tests to evaluate the effectiveness of existing security controls, and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and enforce internal policies, regulatory standards, and industry guidelines across all cybersecurity operations.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure security considerations are embedded in system changes, new projects, and third‑party integrations.
- Maintain up‑to‑date incident response plans and contribute to continuous improvement of the bank’s security posture.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field from a recognised university.
- Professional cybersecurity certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or equivalent security management credentials relevant to current technologies.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is an advantage.
- At least five years of IT experience, with a minimum of three years specifically in cybersecurity management within a financial services or telecom environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of core banking systems, file processing, and data management.
- Solid understanding of ICT security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST) and regulatory frameworks for cybersecurity in banking.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor staff, set goals, and drive team performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging both technical and non‑technical stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong integrity, ethical judgment, and ability to protect the bank’s reputation.
- Ability to build consensus and influence cross‑functionally across departments.
- Customer‑oriented mindset balancing internal service needs with external customer protection.
- Resilience under operational pressure and ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
- Flexibility to keep pace with evolving technology, emerging threats, and new security requirements.
- Proactive, self‑directed, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Systems administration experience is a plus.
