Classroom Teacher
Role Overview
This position places a qualified teacher at the centre of day-to-day learning, responsible for turning curriculum expectations into lessons that students can actually engage with and master. You will own the full teaching cycle for your classes — planning, instruction, assessment, and follow-up — while working alongside colleagues to keep standards consistent across the wider team. The role matters because student outcomes, classroom culture, and parent confidence all depend on the consistency and quality of the teaching delivered week to week.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons that map directly to the curriculum and to clearly stated learning objectives for each unit.
- Adapt instructional methods and materials to suit a range of abilities, learning styles, and language backgrounds within the same class.
- Assess student progress using a mix of ongoing classroom checks and formal graded tasks, and use the results to adjust what you teach next.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson plans, assignments, and grades in line with school expectations.
- Establish and sustain an orderly, inclusive classroom where students feel safe contributing and taking academic risks.
- Provide timely, specific feedback on student work and offer targeted support to learners who are falling behind or ready for greater challenge.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about progress, concerns, and achievements, including during formal reporting periods.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and department leads on shared planning, moderation of assessment, and school-wide initiatives, while also managing your own workload independently.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or a diploma in the relevant subject or specialisation field.
- A recognised qualification in pedagogy or teacher education.
- At least 3 years of hands-on classroom teaching experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, with the ability to explain concepts clearly to students, colleagues, and families.
- Proven capacity to work independently with minimal supervision, and to contribute effectively within a collaborative teaching team.
