Role Overview
As a Laboratory Technologist at Komarock Modern Healthcare in Kitengela, you will be responsible for the accurate collection, processing, and analysis of patient samples to support clinicians in diagnosis and treatment. Your daily work includes performing lab tests, verifying results, maintaining equipment, and adhering to strict safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, label, and prepare patient specimens including blood, urine, and other body fluids for testing.
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory analyses following established protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure accurate performance.
- Document test results precisely, verify their validity, and report findings to clinicians in a timely manner.
- Participate in quality control activities, including running controls, maintaining logs, and managing proficiency testing.
- Follow infection prevention and disposal guidelines to keep the laboratory safe for staff and patients.
- Monitor reagent and supply inventory, prepare orders, and confirm all materials are stored correctly.
- Assist with the upkeep of the laboratory workspace, including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a sterile environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid professional license or registration applicable to laboratory practice.
- A diploma or degree in medical laboratory science or a directly related field from a recognized institution.
- Hands-on experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with familiarity in hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, or similar departments.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inconsistencies and correct errors.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy when performing tests and recording data.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and contribute to different projects at once.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to work alongside medical staff and other laboratory personnel.
- A dependable work ethic, critical thinking mindset, and comfort working independently when required.
