Role Overview
This Cook II position is about more than just putting food on a plate — it involves preparing a broad range of menu items, many of which require advanced culinary techniques and precision. Working as part of a professional food service team, you will ensure that every meal meets strict nutritional standards, looks appealing, and is served in a spotless, welcoming environment. Your daily efforts directly support customer satisfaction and keep an institutional kitchen running smoothly, safely, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a wide variety of meals, including complex menu items that demand advanced cooking techniques and careful attention to detail.
- Follow standardized recipes, portion control guidelines, and preparation instructions to maintain consistent quality and taste.
- Serve meals, snacks, fast-food items, and beverages in a courteous and professional manner while ensuring proper presentation and temperature.
- Maintain the highest level of cleanliness and sanitation in all food preparation, storage, serving, and dining areas.
- Monitor ingredient quality and proper storage to prevent spoilage, rotating stock as needed and reporting shortages promptly.
- Identify menu items that are unavailable, mark them appropriately, and communicate these limitations to customers and team members.
- Complete mandatory food sanitation training — four hours within the first 30 days of employment and an additional four hours each year.
- Coordinate with other food service staff to meet production schedules, maximize efficiency, and ensure a positive dining experience for every customer.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A minimum of two years of hands-on experience preparing and serving a variety of complex menu items.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures, with the willingness to complete the required sanitation training outlined above.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cooking tasks simultaneously without losing focus.
- Excellent attention to detail and a consistent approach to following recipes and preparation instructions.
- Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the entire deployment period.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization, hold a passport valid for at least one year from the date of hire, and secure country-specific visas in accordance with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- English proficiency sufficient to read, speak, and comprehend instructions so you can perform contract duties and follow installation emergency procedures.
