Location: Ngara, Nairobi

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and disciplined Cook to join our culinary team in Ngara. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end preparation of various meals, ensuring high standards of taste, hygiene, and presentation. This role requires a professional who is comfortable working in a high-pressure environment, adheres strictly to standardized recipes, and maintains an immaculate workspace. Whether preparing breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you will play a key role in ensuring our guests receive quality meals served in a timely and professional manner.

Areas of Responsibility

Culinary Execution & Service

  • Prepare ingredients through precise washing, cutting, and marinating according to set recipes.

  • Cook a wide range of meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, ensuring consistency in flavor.

  • Plate and present food in an attractive, hygienic, and appetizing manner.

  • Manage portion control to align with organizational guidelines and minimize wastage.

Sanitation & Food Safety

  • Maintain a sterile and organized kitchen environment at all times.

  • Clean and sanitize work surfaces, utensils, and heavy-duty cooking equipment before and after every use.

  • Implement the FIFO (First In, First Out) method for stock rotation and monitor food storage temperatures.

  • Ensure all food items are correctly labeled and stored in appropriate refrigeration or dry storage units.

Equipment & Operational Safety

  • Safely operate industrial kitchen tools such as ovens, mixers, fryers, and stoves.

  • Report any mechanical faults or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.

  • Adhere to workplace occupational health and safety (OHS) standards to prevent accidents and injuries.

Coordination & Performance

  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen brigade to ensure seamless service during peak hours.

  • Follow directions from the Head Cook or kitchen supervisor with precision.

  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet service deadlines without compromising meal quality.

  • Uphold professional discipline, including proper grooming and adherence to kitchen rules.

Skills & Experience Required

Professional Background

  • Education: Certificate in Food Production, Culinary Arts, or a related field.

  • Experience: Proven track record working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting.

  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of varied cooking methods, ingredients, and modern kitchen equipment.

Essential Competencies

  • Safety First: Strong grasp of food hygiene, sanitation, and safety protocols.

  • Efficiency: Ability to work quickly and accurately in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

  • Teamwork: Excellent interpersonal skills with a cooperative and respectful attitude.
