Job Description

The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to fill 290 Constituency Monitor positions nationwide. Constituency Monitors will play a critical role in safeguarding Kenya's democratic processes by ensuring political parties adhere to the Constitution, the Political Parties Act, and the Code of Conduct for Political Parties at the constituency level.

Reporting to the County Monitor, successful candidates will be responsible for monitoring compliance, liaising with government agencies, and preparing accurate reports on pre-election, election, and post-election activities. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals passionate about governance, political accountability, and electoral integrity.

Candidates must be Kenyan citizens, hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, and be residents of the constituency in which they wish to work. Successful applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution and provide clearance from relevant institutions including EACC, KRA, DCI, CRB, HELB, and the Commission for University Education where applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Administration, Education, Political Science, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Certificate in computer applications.
  • Kenyan citizenship.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Competence in report writing.
  • Willingness to work anywhere within Kenya.
  • Must be a resident of the constituency they wish to work in.
  • Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
  • Must be able to obtain clearance from EACC, KRA, DCI, CRB, HELB, and the Commission for University Education where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance by political parties with the Constitution, the Political Parties Act, and the Code of Conduct for Political Parties at the constituency level.
  • Liaise with relevant government agencies on the implementation of the Code of Conduct for Political Parties.
  • Report findings arising during campaigns and elections, including election petitions, to the County Monitor.
  • Sensitize political parties and candidates on the Code of Conduct for Political Parties and other relevant laws.
  • Prepare reports on pre-election, election, and post-election activities of political parties.
