Role Overview
This internship sits at the heart of CHASP Advisory’s outreach efforts, giving you direct exposure to the day-to-day work of a communications function in a consultancy operating across development and advisory projects. You will support the Head of Communications across content production, social media, website updates, event promotion, and reporting, helping to transform project work and impact stories into clear, engaging messages for diverse stakeholders. Your contributions will directly shape how CHASP Advisory is perceived online and in the field, making this an ideal first step for someone serious about a career in strategic communications and digital engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and polish communication assets including blog posts, newsletter items, web articles, social media updates, event notices, and promotional copy that align with the organisation’s voice and brand guidelines.
- Maintain an organised calendar of social media activity, create and schedule posts, monitor audience interactions, and identify comments or queries that need a response from the wider team.
- Update and refresh the CHASP Advisory website by uploading new content, reports, photographs, and multimedia features while keeping messaging uniform across all digital channels.
- Design simple yet effective visual content—such as graphics, infographics, presentation slides, and short videos—using tools like Canva or similar platforms, and support basic photography and videography during events and field visits.
- Support event promotion by preparing invitations, teaser posts, and live coverage, then capture event highlights and follow-up content for post-event communication.
- Contribute to marketing and visibility campaigns that showcase CHASP Advisory’s services, thought leadership, and project outcomes across different platforms.
- Gather and organise communication performance data, project stories, testimonials, and photos, and assist in preparing monthly reports and internal documentation.
- Help other project teams with visibility materials, success profiles, and communication support while participating in team meetings and brainstorming sessions as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in the final year of a bachelor’s degree or a recent graduate in communications, marketing, public relations, media relations, digital marketing, international relations, business administration, or an equivalent field.
- Strong written and spoken English skills, with a demonstrable ability to write clear, engaging, and error-free content for different audiences.
- Practical familiarity with social media platforms and a working understanding of how to schedule posts and evaluate basic engagement metrics.
- Basic proficiency in graphic design using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable design tools, plus a willingness to learn new software.
- Solid research and analytical skills, with the capacity to turn raw data and interview notes into compelling stories or short reports.
- Good organisational habits and time management, with the ability to juggle multiple content requests and meet deadlines without losing quality.
- A proactive, creative attitude and a genuine eagerness to grow professionally, working comfortably both independently and as part of a small collaborative team.
- Previous internship, volunteer work, campus leadership, or social media management experience is a plus, as is any exposure to photography, videography, or multimedia editing.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is a practical learning placement designed to give you meaningful, hands-on experience rather than passive observation. You will work directly with experienced communicators and have the opportunity to build a portfolio of real-world work while contributing to CHASP Advisory’s visibility and stakeholder engagement efforts.
By the end of the internship, you can expect to have developed practical skills in strategic communications, digital marketing and social media management, brand consistency, content creation and storytelling, media relations, event communication, data analytics and reporting, and public engagement within the development sector. You will also leave with a sharper understanding of how communications professionals support advisory work and drive meaningful conversation around complex development topics.
