Job Title: Clinical Officer
Job Summary
Responsible for providing comprehensive patient care by diagnosing and treating patients, offering preventive care, and managing common medical and surgical conditions. The role also involves participating in public health initiatives and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat patients, including management of common medical and surgical conditions.
- Provide preventive care and health education to patients and communities.
- Participate in public health initiatives and programs.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and ethical standards in clinical practice.
- Collaborate with the medical team to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and generate reports as needed.
Requirements
Education & Registration
- Must have a Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
- Registered with the Clinical Officers Council and must possess a valid practicing license.
Experience
- At least one (1) year of post-internship experience in a public or private hospital.
- Over one (1) year of working experience, ideally in a busy health facility.
Certifications & Knowledge
- Knowledge of non-communicable diseases (NCD) management is key.
- Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Desirable Competencies & Skills
- Excellent clinical skills.
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills, able to work under pressure in a stressful environment while displaying resilience, compassion, and diplomacy.
- Active team player with good interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Self-initiative and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Proficient computer skills for data entry, analysis, and report generation.
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with the medical team and patient interaction.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize workload.
