Role Overview
Join our dental practice as a Dental Surgeon, where you will take charge of the full patient journey—from initial examination and diagnosis to hands-on treatment and post-procedure guidance. Your day-to-day work blends chairside clinical care with operational discipline, ensuring every consultation is both medically sound and genuinely reassuring. This role sits at the heart of our commitment to accessible, high-quality oral healthcare, so your ability to work efficiently and communicate clearly directly shapes patient trust and practice reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out detailed oral examinations, interpret dental radiographs and other diagnostic images, and identify conditions ranging from caries and periodontal disease to more complex oral pathologies.
- Design individualised treatment plans for each patient, explaining all procedural steps, risks, and alternatives before securing informed consent.
- Perform routine restorative, surgical, and preventive procedures—including fillings, extractions, scaling, polishing, and basic root canal therapy—while adhering strictly to aseptic protocols.
- Educate patients on effective oral hygiene routines, dietary choices, and preventive care measures, adapting your advice to their age, lifestyle, and specific dental concerns.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of essential clinical equipment such as dental chairs, X-ray units, and sterilisation systems, reporting any faults or safety issues without delay.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting diagnoses, treatment delivered, prescriptions issued, and follow-up recommendations in line with professional standards.
- Contribute to smooth day-to-day operations by managing your appointment schedule, coordinating with dental assistants and reception staff, and preparing treatment rooms for each patient.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a recognised and accredited institution.
- At least two (2) years of practical, post-qualification experience in a dental clinic, hospital, or similar clinical environment.
- Full registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council, along with a valid practising licence for the current year.
- Proficiency in handling diagnostic equipment, including digital radiography systems and intraoral cameras, and a solid grasp of how to apply findings to clinical decisions.
- Strong competency in classifying dental diseases and oral conditions, enabling accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment selection.
- Demonstrated time management skills that allow you to maintain punctual appointment flows without sacrificing the quality of patient interaction.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, ensuring clear explanations for patients and seamless collaboration with the wider dental team.
