Role Overview
This Business Analyst position works directly with Assistant Relationship Managers and Relationship Managers to keep client accounts organised, well-documented, and aligned with the bank’s internal standards. Day to day, you will examine financial statements, build credit assessments, and prepare the paperwork that supports financing decisions, while making sure every step meets Shariah-compliant and central bank regulations. Your analysis directly helps the relationship team offer appropriate facilities to a quality portfolio of clients and catch potential risks before they escalate.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse client financial statements, cash flow data, and business projections to support RMs and ARMs in structuring credit facilities.
- Prepare and update credit proposals, annual review papers, and approval memos for internal committees.
- Monitor portfolio performance, track covenant compliance, and flag accounts that require additional due diligence or corrective action.
- Coordinate with clients to obtain missing information, clarify documents, and maintain smooth communication between the bank and the borrower.
- Validate that all proposed facilities and client transactions align with Shariah principles plus applicable regulatory and anti-money laundering policies.
- Maintain organised client records, risk scorecards, and portfolio reports for each assigned region or team.
- Partner with compliance, legal, and operations teams to resolve documentation issues and improve turnaround times.
- Support relationship managers in building borrower presentations, facility terms summaries, and periodic account reviews.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, marketing, economics, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Preference for candidates with a recognised professional qualification such as a CPA.
- At least two years of hands-on experience in a similar business analysis, credit analysis, or relationship support role within banking.
- Proven ability to manage a portfolio of clients and independently evaluate business financing proposals.
- Working knowledge of banking products, risk assessment techniques, and internal policy frameworks.
- Familiarity with Shariah-compliant banking principles and local regulatory expectations is an advantage.
- Advanced ability in Microsoft Excel for financial modelling and analysis, along with strong PowerPoint and report drafting skills.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills to question findings, explain gaps, and present concise recommendations to internal stakeholders.
