Day to day, you will oversee every aspect of branch performance, from building deposit and lending portfolios to ensuring smooth operations in cash, clearing, and accounts. Your leadership directly shapes customer loyalty, team effectiveness, and the branch’s overall risk posture, making this position critical to the bank’s regional success.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the branch to meet or exceed profitability targets by growing revenue streams and controlling operational expenses.
- Monitor and expand the branch’s liability and asset portfolios, aligning lending and deposit strategies with broader business objectives.
- Increase the customer base through targeted acquisition efforts while retaining existing clients via proactive cross-selling and strong relationship management.
- Manage day-to-day branch operations and resources efficiently, ensuring workflows, staffing, and infrastructure are optimised for performance.
- Maintain consistently high service standards, resolving customer issues promptly and reinforcing a client-first culture across the team.
- Enforce the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework, ensuring all staff follow policies on compliance, fraud prevention, and operational risk controls.
- Coach, motivate, and develop branch staff, identifying skill gaps and building a pipeline of high-performing talent for future leadership roles.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution is mandatory.
- Certification or formal training in cash management is required.
- At least six years of general banking experience, with a comprehensive understanding of branch operations and retail banking dynamics.
- A minimum of six months working specifically within branch operations covering cash handling, cheque clearing, accounts administration, and related back-office functions.
- No fewer than three years in a role encompassing personal, business, or retail banking sales management, credit management, customer service, or relationship management.
- Strong command of credit risk principles and the ability to assess loan applications, monitor portfolio quality, and manage delinquencies.
- Proven leadership capability, including experience coaching teams, setting performance targets, and fostering accountability.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage both customer expectations and staff performance under pressure.
