Aviation Calibration Technician

Role Overview

You will join a technical team focused on keeping aircraft components and tools in precise, airworthy condition. Your day-to-day work involves calibrating, repairing, and replacing a wide range of aviation instruments, ensuring every measurement meets strict regulatory and company standards. By maintaining accurate records and following established procedures, you directly support operational reliability and safety across the maintenance schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Calibrate mechanical, electrical, pressure, torque, and temperature instruments used in aviation maintenance, following approved technical procedures.
• Apply measurement uncertainty principles to evaluate calibration results and determine acceptance or rejection of equipment.
• Maintain traceability of all calibration work to national and international standards, including ISO 17025 requirements.
• Label and control calibrated tools in line with tool control policies, ensuring no uncalibrated or expired items enter service.
• Identify out-of-tolerance instruments or those requiring repair, and initiate appropriate corrective or replacement actions.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, calibration procedures, engineering specifications, and OEM documentation.
• Use ERP systems or calibration management software to log results, track asset history, and generate compliance reports.
• Monitor reference standards and calibration masters for accuracy, and ensure proper handling, storage, and usage.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma in Applied Sciences, Metrology, Aircraft Maintenance, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working in a busy ISO/IEC 17025 calibration laboratory, ideally supporting aviation maintenance operations.
• Strong understanding of metrology principles, including calibration tolerances, acceptance criteria, correction factors, and traceability chains.
• Familiarity with quality systems such as ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, and AS9100.
• Awareness of aviation maintenance regulations, including EASA, FAA Part 145, or MIL-SPEC requirements, and general aviation legislation.
• Knowledge of industrial safety standards and safe handling of hazardous materials, with a risk-aware approach to all tasks.
• OEM calibration training or equivalent manufacturer-specific certification is preferred.
• ISO 17025 awareness training and EASA/FAA Part 145 regulatory training are considered strong assets.
• Precise data-logging habits, sharp attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to record-keeping.
