Job Title: Community Health Worker
Job Summary
This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. The position is responsible for collecting and analyzing health data, maintaining community health records, identifying and referring health cases, and promoting health interventions at the household and community level.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collect health-related data at household level for analysis.
- Maintain and update community health unit registers and keep records.
- Identify common ailments and minor injuries at community level.
- Identify and refer health cases to appropriate health facilities.
- Visit homes to determine the health situation and dialogue with household members.
- Identify and sensitize communities on health interventions.
- Monitor growth of children under the age of five years.
- Identify defaulters of health interventions and refer them to the appropriate health facilities.
- Manage community health resource centers.
- Convene and coordinate monthly community meetings and action days.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Community Health and Development, Environmental Health, Health Education/Promotion, or Population and Epidemiology from a recognized institution.
- Certificate in Computer Applications Skills from a recognized institution.
