Job Description

Role Overview

This role is centered on the operational health and security of card issuing and acquiring platforms, ensuring that payment systems remain consistently available, performant, and compliant. Day-to-day work involves supporting digital payment channels such as ATMs, POS terminals, agency banking, merchant services, e-commerce, QR payments, and mobile wallets while helping deliver system upgrades and integrations. The position also serves as a technical reference point for junior specialists, promoting strong incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement across the support team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily support, administration, and maintenance of card issuing and acquiring systems, with a focus on high availability and transaction accuracy.
  • Monitor and support payment channels across ATM, POS, agency banking, merchant services, e-commerce, QR, and mobile wallet environments.
  • Coordinate system upgrades, integrations, and product implementations, working closely with business, technology, and vendor partners.
  • Lead incident resolution efforts, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent repeat platform disruptions.
  • Support PCI DSS compliance, security monitoring, and risk mitigation practices across all card platform operations.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and knowledge transfer to junior support and application maintenance teams.
  • Collaborate with operations and risk teams to ensure stable delivery of customer-facing payment services and to address transactional issues efficiently.
  • Participate in continuous service improvement initiatives, including documentation, monitoring enhancements, and operational best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • First degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience supporting card issuing and/or acquiring systems within banking or a payment services environment.
  • Hands-on experience with card management systems, payment switches, or payment processing platforms.
  • Strong understanding of card payment processing, transaction flows, EMV chip technology, and ISO 8583 messaging standards.
  • Proficiency in SQL database environments, including SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL, with the ability to write queries for troubleshooting and reporting.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server platforms and relevant system administration practices.
  • Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs, web services, and system integration technologies.
  • Working knowledge of HSM administration and cryptographic key management within payment environments.
  • Exposure to fraud monitoring and transaction analysis tools or practices.
  • Industry certifications such as ITIL, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, CISSP, CISM, or certifications from VISA or Mastercard are desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, generate practical solutions, work collaboratively, and uphold high standards of delivery and security.
