Job Description

Role Overview

This position supports the day-to-day delivery of the EU-funded PLACE project in Kenya, working closely with county-level human resources, cluster affiliates, and the EU project focal point to keep field activities on track. The role coordinates training events, monitors project data, and helps manage procurement of animal health inputs, ensuring that livestock-related programming runs smoothly across three clusters. By bridging communication between the project lead, implementing partners, and local teams, the officer helps translate project plans into concrete field results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with county-provided human resources across the three clusters, coordinating with cluster affiliates and the EU project focal point on staffing and implementation matters.
  • Oversee follow-up field actions and context monitoring after workshops and training sessions, gathering reports from county staff and consolidating outcomes.
  • Track ongoing activities by ensuring timely, accurate entries into activity monitoring tools, working closely with the RTEA-MEAL officer.
  • Plan and coordinate mobilisation for farmer field schools, farmer field fora, and value chain trainings that support the three pillars of the PLACE initiative.
  • Manage beneficiary data entry and updates in the EU reporting system and KOBO M&E tool, keeping project records current and reliable.
  • Support field-level project implementation, collaborating with cluster affiliates and following direction from the project lead.
  • Organise regular cluster-based and joint cluster meetings, preparing minutes, action points, and follow-up documentation.
  • Assist in developing requests for proposals and letters of agreement, and support procurement of animal health inputs such as vaccines and drugs by drafting technical specifications and evaluating bids.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • University degree in Animal Health and Production from a recognised institution; a master's degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • At least three years of professional experience in livestock health or animal production, with a bachelor's degree.
  • Working knowledge of both English and Kiswahili, with strong report-writing and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and organise trainings, workshops, and community meetings, including sessions involving cooperatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of gender-sensitive, youth-sensitive, and conflict-sensitive programming approaches.
  • Nationality: Kenyan.
  • Core competencies include results focus, teamwork, effective communication, building relationships, and knowledge sharing.
  • Experience with government bodies, United Nations agencies, international NGOs, or development partners is considered an added advantage.
