Job Description

Role Overview

This internship places a recent graduate inside an active nutrition and public health workstream, where the day-to-day rhythm mixes field data collection with office-based analysis and reporting. You will rotate through the practical building blocks of nutrition research and community programming — designing studies, gathering dietary and anthropometric measurements, cleaning and interpreting data, and helping run the workshops and field activities that keep projects moving. The role exists to build a pipeline of capable young professionals while adding dependable hands-on support to ongoing nutrition surveillance, intervention, and policy work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply core nutrition research methods, including study design, dietary assessment techniques, anthropometric measurement, and the ethical standards that govern research involving human participants.
  • Support data management end to end: entering records, cleaning datasets, running basic statistical analysis, and translating findings into clear tables, charts, and written interpretations of nutrition data.
  • Use digital field data collection tools for capturing and transmitting project data accurately from the field.
  • Contribute to community nutrition and public health programming by helping plan interventions, deliver targeted nutrition education sessions, and support monitoring and evaluation of programme activities.
  • Build familiarity with Kenya's key nutrition guidelines and indicators, and see how surveillance systems feed into health and nutrition decision-making.
  • Assist with logistics and delivery of meetings, workshops, and field activities, from preparation through to follow-up documentation.
  • Produce analytical write-ups and reports that communicate findings to supervisors and project teams.
  • Take on additional tasks assigned to support overall project operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Must have completed graduation and hold the relevant final certificate.
  • Kenyan youth below 30 years of age.
  • Demonstrated teamwork — comfortable collaborating across field and office teams (mandatory).
  • Presentation skills, with the confidence to communicate findings to groups (mandatory).
  • Analytical ability and report writing skills (mandatory).

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a structured training internship rather than a purely administrative posting. You will receive guided exposure across four connected areas — nutrition research methodology, data management and analysis, community nutrition and public health programming, and nutrition surveillance and policy — giving you a working portfolio of field and analytical experience. You will also gain direct experience organising meetings, workshops, and field activities, which builds project coordination skills that transfer to a wide range of public health and programme roles.
