Job Purpose
- The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely statutory compliance, and managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company. This role is vital for supporting the company’s operations by providing reliable financial reporting and efficient cash flow management.
Key Responsibilities
Statutory Compliance & Taxation
- Lead the accurate preparation and timely filing of all monthly statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, and Housing Levy.
- Ensure the company remains in full compliance with current tax laws and Labor regulations to avoid penalties or surcharges.
- Coordinate with relevant authorities (e.g., KRA) regarding any tax queries or audits.
Financial Record Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain and update the company’s books of accounts, ensuring all transactions are recorded in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and monitor ledger accounts for accuracy.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Payables: Process payments to suppliers and service providers, ensuring all invoices are verified and approved according to company SOPs.
- Receivables: Record incoming payments, track aged debtors, and follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure healthy cash flow.
- Manage petty cash and reconcile departmental expenses.
Clerical Duties
- Maintain an organized digital and physical filing system for all financial documents, contracts, and receipts.
- Perform general clerical finance duties as required to support the administrative team.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance option) or a related field.
- CPA-K or ACCA finalist would be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in an accounting role, preferably within a fast-paced or scaling environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
