Role Overview
This position sits at the financial core of a busy Abu Dhabi-based travel company, where you will take ownership of the full accounting cycle while supporting the agency's day-to-day cash flow and compliance obligations. Your work will directly affect how quickly the business collects revenue, settles supplier debts, and stays aligned with UAE tax and tourism regulations. You will be expected to work autonomously, balancing routine reconciliations with month-end deadlines and regular reporting for management.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive collections by actively chasing outstanding receivables and following up with clients until invoices are settled.
- Run the complete accounts payable and accounts receivable cycle, from verifying entry documents to posting payments and monitoring aging reports.
- Submit invoices through government and private sector portals, and track the status of local purchase orders to ensure approvals and payments move without delays.
- Keep accounting records clean and current, with proper supporting documentation for every transaction.
- Prepare monthly financial and management reports, including profit-and-loss summaries and cash flow insights for leadership.
- Handle VAT calculations, Municipality Fees, and Tourism Taxes, ensuring every filing matches current UAE regulatory requirements.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reconcile airline and travel booking data from GDS platforms against internal receivables, and maintain accurate commission tracking and settlement records.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A minimum of five years of accounting experience inside a UAE-based travel agency is essential.
- Familiarity with travel industry accounting practices, including commission structures, ticket sales, and supplier settlement cycles.
- Hands-on experience with financial reporting, account reconciliation, and tax computation in a UAE corporate environment.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic, spoken and written, to communicate with clients, suppliers, and government authorities.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to record-keeping, with no tolerance for incomplete or inaccurate entries.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently without close supervision.
