Role Purpose
The Insurance Underwriter will evaluate insurance applications, assess risk, and determine appropriate coverage terms. This role requires in-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, financial analysis, and strong communication skills to support sound decision-making and stakeholder satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess insurance applications, policies, and related documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct thorough risk evaluations using established underwriting methodologies specific to the insurance segment.
- Analyse financial statements and client information to evaluate financial stability and risk exposure.
- Communicate underwriting decisions, policy terms, and conditions clearly and concisely to internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail to minimise errors and uphold high-quality standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to support business objectives and risk management strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Professional Qualification: Must hold a recognised professional insurance qualification.
- Risk Evaluation: Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and underwriting principles specific to the insurance segment.
- Financial Analysis: Proficient in analysing financial statements and evaluating the financial stability of clients.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey underwriting decisions, policy terms, and conditions to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Attention to Detail: Thoroughly review and assess insurance applications, policies, and related documents to ensure accuracy and minimise errors.
