Position: Member of the County Audit Committee
Job Summary
The County Audit Committee seeks to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual to serve as a Committee Member. The successful candidate will provide independent oversight of internal audit functions, ensuring compliance with the Public Finance Management Act, the Constitution of Kenya 2010, and relevant regulations. This role demands a deep understanding of public sector operations, audit principles, and the devolved system of governance.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this role, a candidate must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Hold at least a bachelor’s degree from an institution recognized in Kenya.
- Have at least 10 years of professional experience, five (5) of which must be in a senior management position.
- Possess relevant qualifications and expertise in audit within public service or the devolved system of government.
- Have a good understanding of the mandate, objects, principles, and functions of internal auditing services in public services.
- Have a good understanding of Public Sector operations, financial reporting, or auditing.
- Have thorough knowledge of Audit Committee operations, the Public Finance Management Act, and its Regulations.
- Must not be a past or present employee of the county, and shall not have served as an employee or agent of a business organization that has carried out any business with Makueni County in the last two years.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of national values and principles of governance referred to in Article 10, and principles of public service referred to in Article 232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the objects, principles, and functions of the Government of Makueni County.
- Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity.
- Shall not be a holder of a political office.
Additional Considerations
Being a member in good standing of a relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
