Job Description

Job Title: Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) Teacher

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver class teaching in line with the ECDE curriculum.
  • Serve as a role model, provide guidance and counseling, mentor, and inspire learners.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all learners at all times.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating play-based and learning activities for learners.
  • Foster the holistic development of learners, including spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic, and emotional growth.
  • Manage ECDE classes and maintain professional and administrative records such as schemes of work, lesson plans, daily programme of activities, and attendance registers.
  • Develop and prepare play and learning materials to enhance the learning environment.

Requirements for Appointment

For direct appointment to this grade, a candidate must possess the following:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum grade D+ (Plus) or KCE Division IV at 'O' level.
  • A Certificate in Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) offered by KNEC / Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent.
  • Registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
  • A certificate in computer applications.
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the National Police Service.
  • A valid medical report from a registered government health facility.
