Role Overview
We are seeking a highly resilient, mobile-ready Sales Representative to spearhead our commercial outreach and expand our market share within the hardware and construction supply industry. Your primary objective is to drive revenue velocity by identifying, pitching, and onboarding high-volume hardware retailers, regional wholesalers, and building contractors. This position blends active territory management with intensive field-level business development; you will steer accounts from initial route prospecting and upcountry travel campaigns through to order closures and long-term supply agreements. The role demands an independent, target-motivated hunter who understands the nuances of construction material distribution and can confidently establish profitable new merchant lines.
Areas of Accountability
Field Prospecting & Revenue Generation
- Map out, approach, and convert fresh corporate clients, regional hardware shops, and construction buyers into active purchasing entities.
- Structure and deploy tactical field route plans to ensure maximal customer contact and high conversion rates during territory sweeps.
- Negotiate volume purchase contracts, supply terms, and wholesale pricing agreements aligned with company commercial guidelines.
- Drive consistent sales momentum to systematically achieve and surpass assigned monthly and quarterly revenue goals.
Upcountry Development & Market Intelligence
- Travel extensively outside Nairobi to unlock underserved secondary markets and establish regional product distribution hubs.
- Intercept and gather real-time field intelligence regarding competitive pricing structures, trending material demands, and market vulnerabilities.
- Deliver accurate, structured market condition feedback to executive leadership to guide pricing changes and inventory provisioning.
Partner Care & Account Retention
- Cultivate and insulate deep, collaborative partnerships with institutional hardware store owners, site contractors, and logistics buyers.
- Manage post-sale inquiries, coordinating stock delivery tracking, and resolving order discrepancies to protect customer trust.
- Provide continuous consultation regarding product applications, performance specifications, and specialized material benefits.
Tracking Logistics & Administrative Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive records of active field accounts, tracking buyer preferences, purchase frequencies, and outstanding pipeline leads.
- Draft and submit precise weekly and monthly sales reports summarizing actual achievements against performance scorecards.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all delivery receipts, payment milestones, and formal supply invoicing workflows.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum Entry Criteria
- Academic Foundation: Diploma or Certificate in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a complementary commercial track.
- Industry Track Record: Mandatory proven experience executing sales campaigns specifically within the hardware, construction, or structural supply industry.
- Mobility Fitness: Total willingness and flexibility to travel extensively on upcountry sales routes outside the Nairobi metropolitan zone.
- Commercial Capability: Excellent sales negotiation, account closing, and high-stakes relationship management abilities.
